On December 30, 2019, in the 12 inch production workshop of Hangzhou semiconductor wafer Co., Ltd.（FTHW）, the first 12 inch semiconductor silicon polishing wafer was successfully completed. Since the construction of Xinjing wafer project started in mid February 2018, it has lasted 22 months. From the mass production of 8-inch wafer and the completion ceremony of the project to the successful production of the first 12 inch semiconductor silicon polishing wafer, it marks that FTHW ushered in a new milestone for the manufacturing and development of domestic semiconductor wafer and the chain link Semiconductor industry has taken an important step, which has greatly promoted the development of information technology, consumer electronics, artificial intelligence and other industrial chains.
As we all know, China is the largest chip consumer in the world, and "chip localization" has become an important long-term development strategy in the future. The existing silicon chip production capacity in China is mainly in the small silicon chip. The large-scale semiconductor silicon chip is a missing link in the semiconductor industry chain in China, which has been dependent on imports for a long time. The smooth downline of the 12 inch silicon chip marks that FTHW is becoming a large-scale domestic large-scale semiconductor silicon chip production base with mature technology. The base can achieve an annual output of 4.2 million 8-inch semiconductor silicon wafers and 2.4 million 12 inch semiconductor silicon wafers, which will change the current situation that domestic large-scale semiconductor silicon wafers are completely dependent on foreign countries, effectively fill the short board of domestic large-scale semiconductor silicon supply industry; reduce China's import dependence on high-quality silicon wafers, stabilize the supply of high-quality large-scale semiconductor silicon wafers; significantly reduce costs and increase Industrial competitiveness, fully meet the urgent requirements of China's integrated circuit industry for silicon substrate basic materials, and speed up the nationalization process of large-scale semiconductors.
